Two metro-area 7-11 stores were robbed Tuesday night and a third was targeted in an apparent string of robberies, possibly involving the same suspects.
The first robbery occurred at approximately 1:50am at a 7-11 store near 89th and Wornall Rd in which two, black males dressed in grey hooded sweatshirts, one with a red towel covering his face allegedly robbed the store at gunpoint. An undetermined amount of cash was taken and the suspects fled on foot. No injuries were reported.
A second 7-11 store near 117th and Grandview Road was targeted at approximately 2:15am, but was not robbed. Two black male suspects with their faces covered by red towels and dressed in grey hooded sweatshirts and bright white tennis shoes attempted to gain entry through the front doors of the store. Both were allegedly carrying handguns. Employees kept the door locked and the suspects were not able to gain entry to the store. No injuries were reported and the suspects fled the scene.
The third robbery occurred at roughly 4am at the 7-11 located at Independence Avenue and Benton Boulevard. Again, two black male suspects with faces covered, dressed in grey and black hooded sweatshirts and one wearing a black backpack allegedly robbed the store at gunpoint. After taking cash the pair fled on foot.
Additionally, two 7-11 stores in Independence, Missouri were robbed.
