Dear editor,

Historic Northeast is on the verge of becoming one of the greatest neighborhoods in Kansas City. While we have a lot of hard work yet to be done and a lot of tough decisions coming our way, we feel we are on the correct path. While we may not all agree on the path, we all want what is best for our friends, neighbors, and neighborhood. This year, we have an opportunity to change the political landscape to our advantage; our political future is in our hands. We will soon have the opportunity to vote one of our neighbors into the Missouri House of Representatives and into the Missouri senate. We will have 3 members of our community running for the Missouri State Representative seat that is being vacated by John Rizzo (Clifford McMurray, Manny Abarca, and Ingrid Burnett). John Rizzo is running to represent us in the Missouri State Senate.

We urge you to do your own research on the candidates, get out to vote, and get your neighbors out to vote. We would like to suggest that we as a neighborhood give our support to the one candidate that is not a part of the political establishment. Clifford McMurray is the only candidate running for the 19th District Missouri House of Representatives who we feel will put our district’s needs above all. He is a non-establishment candidate who owes no favors to high powered corporations or high level politicians. We feel he will continue to do valuable work for our neighborhoods, not the establishment.
