Have you ever wondered how a museum develops its exhibits? A June 27 event at the Kansas City Museum’s Historic Garment District space will allow you to wonder no more.

The Kansas City Museum will host an exhibit design and development presentation on Wednesday, June 27, from 6:15 to 8 p.m. at 800 Broadway, Kansas City Museum’s ancillary location at the Historic Garment District (KCM@HGD). A formal presentation will occur from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., followed by an open house with design team members from 7:15 p.m. until 8 p.m. Street parking in the area is free of charge after 6 p.m.

The Kansas City Museum has brought on Gallagher & Associates to work alongside project architects International Architects Atelier (IAA), Museum staff, and local experts to craft dynamic exhibits and programs at the Museum when it re-opens following an extensive renovation, which is currently underway. That process is being guided by the Museum’s Visitor Experience Plan, a document adopted by the Parks and Recreation department in 2017.

Representatives from JE Dunn will also be present to provide a construction update about work at Corinthian Hall. A construction progress report issued on June 19, 2018 has also been made available on the Kansas City Museum’s website.
