In the midst of several proposed plans for state intervention in unaccredited school districts, Kansas City Public Schools is ready to show of its own community-driven plan in a hands-on way.
Beginning in February, KCPS will host events at eight schools to show off the activities and methods outlined in the Kansas City Public Schools Plan, which has been submitted to state education officials. The plan aims to increase student achievement and growth.
The events will include information and learning activities from the plan as well as highlight the advancements made in school health and safety, parent and family engagement, new laptops and technology. In addition, the events will highlight social and specialty services offered in KCPS.
According to KCPS, the plan is “unique because many of its action steps have directly contributed to the 40 percent gains in achievement recorded by KCPS students in 2013.”
