Despite the risks, despite the odd and often long hours, Kansas City Police Department officers continue to serve, said KCPD Chief Darryl Forté.
During the May 17 KCPD Memorial Service, Forté reminded attendees of the sacrifices police officers make every day to protect the public. They are more likely to be criticized than praised, but still they serve, he said.
