According to the Kansas City Police Department, an officer with the Kansas City Police Department has voluntarily separated from the Department following an investigation into a shooting incident.
On December 9, 2019, an off-duty officer radioed for help at around 2:30 a.m. from his home in the 3500 block of St. John Avenue.
He told officers he fired shots at an intruder, who then ran from the scene.
However, police say the evidence does not support the off-duty officer’s claim that there was an intruder in his home.
Any potential criminal wrong-doing is still being investigated and any applicable criminal charges will be determined by the prosecutor.
