The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department’s Bomb and Arson Unit cordoned off an area near Independence and Paseo Friday morning on a call of a suspicious package in the back of a parking lot at 1447 Independence Blvd.

The unit’s bomb robot detonated a device at roughly 11:30 a.m. but returned to the package to further investigate. Another detonation occurred about 12:15 p.m. Police then called an “all clear” and the area was re-opened a short time later.

KCPD has not released information on what was inside the package or what was detonated.
