KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Darryl Forté, Kansas City’s Chief of Police, is coming to the Northeast to talk about safety.

Mattie Rhodes Center will host a public neighborhood meeting with Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at their Northeast location, 148 North Topping, Kansas City. The meeting begins at 6:30pm.

The purpose of the meeting is to continue a dialogue with the police department regarding public safety and livability issues in the Northeast. Residents, business owners, school officials and church representatives are invited to attend. The meeting will be held in both English and Spanish. The event is hosted by the Northeast Chamber of Commerce, Northeast CID, Northeast Neighborhoods, Northeast News, Northeast Alliance Together (NEAT) and Mattie Rhodes Center. Various elected officials are expected to participate.

Although the meeting was motivated by an uptick in homicides in Northeast neighborhoods, the groups want the meeting to be positive and solution-focused. The agencies look to area residents to help the coalition move forward in their mission to create a collective approach to focus on the strengths of our community while tackling current issues.
