KC Together: New Media for Our City, Our Stories

Kansas City Museum is working with Artist/Filmmaker Randy Bacon and his movement platform 8 Billion Ones to create KC Together, a new series of still portraits, short film conversations, and motion portraits about Kansas Citians for the Museum’s Our City, Our Stories exhibit on the third floor of Corinthian Hall.

The new exhibit media experience will launch in Fall 2023 and includes stories from ten individuals who live in Kansas City. To learn more about the individuals and the exhibit opening date, visit: https://kansascitymuseum.org/kc-together/.

Celia Ruiz Calderón was born and raised on Kansas City’s East Side to parents who emigrated from El Derramadero, Guanajuato, Mexico. Celia is the Social Determinants of Health Project Coordinator with UnitedHealthcare, a Bilingual Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Art as Mentorship Board Member, and a Commissioner for both Kansas City, Missouri’s LGBTQ Commission and Municipal Art Commission. Celia is a native Spanish speaker, interpreter, and community advocate.

Enrique Chi is the leader and songwriter of the Latin Grammy-nominated band Making Movies and the Founder/Artistic and Executive Director of Art as Mentorship, a nonprofit that expands the band’s community efforts. Art as Mentorship is increasing its Rebel Song Academy program to additional sites, and the Celebrate AMERI’KANA Music & Arts Festival is bringing Kansas City into a national conversation about the power of the arts on community wellness.
