Kansas City residents who want to become involved with their community can now apply to be a part of the Neighborhood Advisory Council.

The City of Kansas City is looking for Kanas City residents to become a part of the Neighborhood Advisory Council for the 2012 election. The council consists of 15 members that meet monthly to discuss any proposed city policies or programs and relay any recommendations they may have to the director of the city’s Neighborhood and Housing Services Department.

All applicants must be a registered voter in Missouri, not have any outstanding warrants or delinquent taxes and not have any conflicts of interest with the work of the Advisory Council.

“There are very few ways for people to communicate their issues to city government,” said Scott Wagner, city council member. “So it is important for people to apply who want to advocate on behalf of neighborhoods with the city.”

In the northeast region there are two open seats available.

Applications for the Neighborhood Advisory Council can be found at http://www.kcmo.org/kcnac, or at the Neighborhoods Housing Services Department, and must be turned in by Tuesday, August 28.
