KANSAS CITY, Missouri – On Wednesday August 24th, the Kansas City Renaissance Festival held a special behind-the-scenes preview for media personnel.
They provided free food samples for new possible menu ideas such as fried Mac and Cheese, brownie ice cream, and much more. There was also free soda provided by the Renaissance Festival, as well as domestic beer for $1 and imported beer and wine for $2. Free face painting was also provided during the evening.
Director of Entertainment Jim Stamberger mentioned that it takes a full year to plan for the event, and that there will be over 500-600 performers and streetwalkers this year. Ticket prices will be $21.99 per person and discounts are available, so make sure you check to see if you qualify for a discount. The festival hopes to see around 8,000-10,000 people attend.
The three-hour event highlighted shows that will be performed at the festival, including a new one-woman act. During the one-woman act, the young lady does multiple dangerous things, including standing and lying on nails and getting out of tight knots.
“There are going to be 40 performance acts, not including any of the community choirs,” Stamberger said.
Some of these acts include: singing and dancing groups, story time, a man juggling swords and knives on glass and much more. The environment was very welcoming and engaging for the whole family. This year will be their 40th year of the Renaissance Festival and many new things are coming this season.
The festival will be open to the public from September 3rd to October 16th. It will be held on the weekends as well as Labor Day and Columbus Day from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The festival will go on whether there will be rain or shine.
