The grounds at the Kansas City Museum were spiffed up last week with the installation of four new flower beds modeled after the original beds planted by the Long family – okay, Long family domestic help – back when the house was a residence. Two of the beds flank the walkway in the front of the house and there are two in the back of the house along Norledge.

The flower gardens are in roughly the same spot as the original and are planted with the same type of flowers, too, lending a new dimension of color and history to the museum grounds.

This nosy newshound has said it before and will say it again: It’s refreshing to now have a museum with a true community focus vs. the “hands off” style of past years. Kudos to Christopher Leitch and his staff for continuing to be strong advocates for the local community and keeping the Corinthian Hall facility relevant when it could have easily faded into the woodwork.
