KANSAS CITY – One person is dead after a collision between an SUV and a train Thursday night, June 20 at 9:15.
According to Kansas City Police, emergency crews responded to Front Street near Chouteau Trafficway, just west of Topping, in regard to a fatal collision involving a train.
The investigation determined that a train operated by Kansas City Southern Railroad was crossing southbound Front Street at a marked rail crossing when it was struck by a westbound Ford Escape SUV.
A passenger in the Ford, identified as a 56-year-old Kansas City, Mo. man, died at the scene.
The driver, a 60-year-old Kansas City, Mo. woman, was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No train occupant was injured.
