A Kansas City teen has now died as a result of his injuries from an officer involved shooting.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, officers were in the vicinity of Smart and Wheeling around 4 p.m. June 3 when they noticed a subject of interest from a previous offense. When they approached the subject, 16-year-old Tyler W. Wilkins, he fled on foot.
During the foot chase, Wilkins pointed a gun at officers and one of the officers shot at Wilkins, hitting him in the back, according to KCPD. No officers were injured. Wilkins died from his injuries on June 4.
