Independence Ave. Walgreens robbed

A Walgreens employee was beaten over the weekend in a store robbery at the 5400 Independence Ave. location.

The crime took place about 1:40 p.m. Saturday. The suspect, described as a tall black male with a black bandanna covering a portion of his face, beat the cashier with a pistol and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash.

The victim went to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect arrived and fled in a grey Dodge Durango.
