This year the Kansas City Missouri School District is requiring students to have their immunizations in order to head back to school this August.

“If the child does not have all immunizations up to date when they arrive on the first day of school they will not be admitted,” said Susan Lanning, public relations office manager at KCMSD.

The school district does not want to see kids without their immunizations sent home on their first day, Lanning said. Kansas City, Mo., Health Department gives immunizations Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon. Walk-ins for children and teens are welcome and all immunizations for children ages six and younger are free.

The Health Department is located at 2400 Troost Ave., Suite 1100.
