proXimity, a neighborhood group show, celebrates the artists and artisans living and working in Columbus Park returns from 6-10 p.m. 30+ makers and performers will showcase their work across 3 venues: The Trap (525 Gillis St), 815 Gallery (815 E 5th St), and the Don Bosco Community Center (526 Campbell St). There will also be pop-ups, such as 719 Kunstgarage (719 E 5th St featuring work by Sarah Robl), food trucks and all the neighborhood restaurants, including Happy Gillis, Vietnam Cafe, Garozzo’s, and The Caddyshack . Come down and help celebrate the uniqueness and creativity of Columbus Park.

Third Fridays with concert starting at 7:00 pmAugust 20, 2021 Mundo Nouvo (Salsa)This is a lush outdoor venue between an orchard and a lily pond. There are limited benches and chairs.

You are encouraged to bring your own blanket, lawn chairs, food or refreshments. Children welcome with parental guidance.

Sunrise Movement KC is hosting an ICE CREAM SOCIAL Friday, August 20 from 7-9 pm in Maple Park at 200 Lexington Ave. They are asking for pay-what-you-can donations to support The Merry Outlaw, a KC-based mutual aid group they are partnering with to raise money for utility debt relief. Are you tired of the fossil fuel industry and their politician puppets running our country to the ground? Are you wondering how we can combat the climate crisis and rebuild resilient communities? Do you want to build a future invested in people, not corporations and fossil fuel CEOs? Or do you basically have no clue what’s happening and want to enjoy ice cream during hot weather & learn about what Sunrise KC is working on? Join us at Maple Park to kick back, eat some ice cream, and learn more about our ongoing work!

Saturday

Missouri State Senator, Barbara Ann Washington, will be holding a public Town Hall meeting at the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. Mo.. State Representative, Ingrid Burnett is her guest speaker.

Guests from their districts are encouraged to come , listen, ask questions, and enjoy brunch from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please join us for a night of multicultural community engagement for the whole family in the Historic Northeast, Kansas City. This will be a come-and-go event involving Global FC youth, families, and community members, and we would love to have you there! To celebrate the start of a new school year, we will have live intercultural music, ethnic food, international coffee, pick-up soccer games, a Global FC photo gallery, and more. We will also be distributing new school supplies to all Global FC youth to prepare them for the new school year including backpacks donated by Stacy Hill from the organization We Believe In You. We hope to see you there!

Our mission is to provide a free, welcoming space for artists, musicians and performers to grow, network and sell their art. We offer a very relaxed open-mic setting. No need to signup, just come, check out the vibes and if you feel comfortable, you are welcome to perform! One mic & PA System provided, there is one extra connection to hook up a second mic or instrument (you will need to bring your own equipment).
