On Saturday, August 17, Healing House hosted their annual baptism on the 4400 block of St. John Avenue. This was their seventeenth year performing baptisms, and according to Bobbi Jo Reed, director of Healing House ministries, they have baptized over 1,000 people.
“It’s mostly people in our program, or their family members,” Reed said, “but other people show up and we baptize them, too,”
Last Saturday, over 70 people were baptized. Numerous pastors from around the Kansas City area were in attendance, including Pastor Jim West of Colonial Presbyterian, Dr. Pam Morrison of Heartland Healing Rooms, Pastor Tom Langhofer of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Pastor Scott Chrostek of Resurrection Downtown, and Pastor Darryl Burton, an innocent man who was exonerated in 2008 after spending 24 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
Additionally, Healing House dedicated their latest renovation project, the Wesley House. Guests were invited to tour the newest facility.
The Wesley House was purchased with a generous donation from Church of the Resurrection. Staff and volunteers completely refurbished this house, inside and out, creating a safe and beautiful home for men who are advanced in their recovery.
