Riders from as far away as Emporia, Kan., were part of the inaugural Hawgs ‘n History Ride Saturday sponsored by the Kansas City Museum. Local biker-dude/historian Michael Bushnell led the 25 motorcyclists on a 125-mile jaunt through the Missouri countryside and visited the Lexington, Mo., Civil War battlefield, the Higginsville Confederate Cemetery and the Battle of Lone Jack Historic Site. The ride came in about two hours late but there were smiles all around given the beautiful weather that unfolded for the day. The museum is planning at least two additional history rides this summer to coincide with the upcoming Art of the Chopper motorcycle exhibit at Union Station that runs June through September.
