As we begin 2024 and the 11th year for the Independence Avenue Community Improvement District, we remain, as always, focused on our three, key barometers for addressing the quality of life along our International Marketplace, Independence Avenue. 

Over the next ten weeks, we’ll be sharing how our team works diligently along the Avenue to improve the International Marketplace experience for everyone. 

Crime- Our Avenue Angels (TITAN Security) address nuisance crimes on properties within the district and are “eyes on the Avenue” from 8:30am-11:30pm seven days a week plus overnight patrol. Avenue Angels also assist CID businesses and their patrons with services such as lock-out services, jump-start services, or assisting customers to their vehicles when needed. 

Grime- The Independence Avenue Corridor continues to see daily beautification through the hard work of our Urban Street Ambassadors. The team of eight Ambassadors tackle litter, decorate for various holidays, and maintain common area landscaping, all in any kind of weather. Our Ambassadors also observe and report street activities to our Titan Angels, helping to insure the safety of everyone along the Avenue.  

Chime– We like to share accomplishments of our businesses and stakeholders in the community to not only help build their brand, but also to assist in building foot traffic to the over 100 unique business entities that make up the Independence Avenue Community Improvement District and generate a place for success. Our relationship with the two local media entities, The Northeast News and One KC Radio, allow us to utilize a multi-media approach in sharing the success stories of our local business community.
