Motorists traveling along Front Street will soon see more delays.

The City of Kansas City, Mo., is continuing to work on the city’s Front Street improvement project, which will result in a three-week detour beginning Tuesday, May 10.

During the detour, River Front Road will be closed from Lydia Avenue to the Grand Street Viaduct. A posted detour will bypass the road at 3rd Street/Northeast Industrial Trafficway.

Front Street roadway improvements will include the realignment of the roadway along Richard Berkeley Park from the Grand Street Viaduct to the Christopher S. Bond Bridge.

Other improvements will include construction of a four-lane divided arterial roadway with a pedestrian trail, streetlights, storm water control and parking lot improvements. This work is being managed by the city’s Capital Projects Department for the Kansas City Public Works Department.

The project is scheduled for completion this summer with the road scheduled to reopen in late May.
