Kansas City Missouri firefighters were called to a park area in the 400 block of Paseo Blvd. About 5pm Sunday afternoon on a reported vegetation fire.

The blaze turned out to be adjacent to a large transient camp where a large pile of trash and debris was burning.

A tall column of smoke could be seen as far away as I-29 and 64th street.

No injuries were reported in the blaze. The area along the I-35 entrance ramp is a growing area of concern given the large transient population that live in the numerous camps that dot the thickly wooded area home.

The area is on MoDOT’s list of regularly scheduled clean ups.
