Four seats are up for grabs on the Kansas City Public Schools Board of Education.
Those elected will each serve a four-year term. Open seats include sub-districts 1, 2 and 5, and one at-large position. Elections will be held April 3, 2012.
Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:
•A United States citizen
•Resident taxpayer and voter of the district
•A Missouri resident for at least one year prior to the election or appointment
•Resident of a sub-district or at-large district
•At least 24 years old
•Not employed by the district
Candidates must file their declaration of candidacy and nominating petition with the secretary of the board of education at district headquarters, 1211 McGee St., Suite 1103, Kansas City, Mo.
Filing period begins Dec. 13 at 8 a.m. and closes Jan. 17 at 5 p.m. District headquarters will be closed from Dec. 23 through Jan. 6 for winter break and will reopen Jan. 9.
