Family mourns homicide victim, plans vigil

Elizabeth Stivers

The family of Elizabeth Stivers is mourning after she was killed Tuesday evening in Lykins. They plan to hold a vigil on Sunday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at 4300 E. 7th Street.

Her cousin, Jamie, said Elizabeth “was taken from this world too soon.” Donations can be made at https://gofund.me/62dabccb.

“She was a sweet person and adored her mother and brother,” Jamie wrote. “She was 31 years old and her life was cut short. So please if you can help it would mean so much to her whole family.”

Just after 9:15 p.m., Kansas City, MO Police officers (KCPD) were called to the area of 7th Street and Spruce Avenue on a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located one victim, an adult female later identified as 31-year-old Stivers, suffering an apparent trauma in the front yard.

Fire and EMS personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Detectives and crime scene personnel continue to investigate this crime. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 816-234-5043. Or if you wish to remain anonymous you can do so by calling the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.  There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.
