John Fierro is the CEO of the Mattie Rhodes Center and current Sub-district three school board member. He received his Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Master’s of Public Affairs from Park University, and his Master’s of Business Administration from Rockhurst University. In 2017, he presented the keynote address at his alma mater during Park University’s Kansas City Area May 2017 Commencement. He said the most distinct quality of the Northeast community is the passion.
“Anybody that knows the Northeast, knows you have passionate residents, business owners, and community stakeholders who want the best for the neighborhood. Having worked here in this neighborhood for the last fifteen years with Mattie Rhodes, I’ve seen a lot of that passion result in some very positive things. I see the amazing work done by the Independence Avenue CID, with employees out picking up trash off the street. You would not have seen that prior to ten years ago. As an outsider, people know we take pride in keeping our community clean. You also see Scott Wagner, who was Indian Mound president now become Mayor Pro Tem. That speaks volumes to the type of people we have here in the Northeast. We have people who care enough to work together, work as a group, and get things done.”
