Elizabeth Alex, long time director of communications and public outreach for Kansas City University (KCU), has been named the university’s Executive Director of University Relations. In her new role, Alex will oversee KCU’s branding, digital and traditional marketing, as well as event planning, public relations and collaborative community outreach.

“She has a deep understanding of KCU’s mission of improving the well-being of the communities we serve, and the importance of telling the KCU story through public relations, events and innovative strategies,” said Dr. Marc Hahn, D.O., President and CEO of KCU. 

“I am thrilled to be leading a team of talented people as we take that story to a wider audience,” Alex said, “connecting with students who are interested in the noble career of medicine and offering valuable health information to our community.” 

Prior to joining KCU, Alex was a news anchor for local NBC affiliate KSHB Channel 41. After leaving KSHB ,she served as director of community outreach and media relations for Unbound, an international non-profit agency serving marginalized communities and families all over the world. 

Kansas City University, at 1750 Independence Boulevard,  was founded as an osteopathic college in  1916 and is the oldest medical school in Kansas City.
