THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 – Northeast News Open House, 5 to 7 p.m. at 2659 Independence Blvd. Come visit our new office space and see where your weekly community paper takes shape. Sample a variety of homemade chili recipes prepared by our staff and vote for your favorite during our Chili Cook-off.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1 – Northeast Community Cleanup, 8:00 – Noon. Concourse, Budd, Lykins, Sheffield Park.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1 – Independence Plaza Block Party from 3-7 p.m. on E 7th Street between Gladstone and Chestnut. Meet your neighbors, enjoy music, try food, play games and find ways to get engaged. Contact

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1 – Celebrate Elmwood Cemetery’s 150th Anniversary with a community-focused celebration featuring food trucks, live music and thematic tours. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1 -Join St. Ann’s Church for the Annual Fall Festival on from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bring the whole family for a fun-filled afternoon of games, crafts, food, entertainment and lots of raffles, a special silent auction, dancing, and a vaccine clinic. 10109 E. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16 – Pendleton Heights Orchard Fest at Lexington and Ord from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food, fun, and puppets! The Stone Lion Puppet Theater will perform its show Down the Drain at noon. We’ll have a pumpkin patch, amazing raffle prizes, crafts, and a costume swap just in time for Halloween.
