8/5 – Melissa and Company will bring Country Music to Friday in the Park at North Kansas City’s Festival Pavilion in Macken Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All concerts are free and open to the public, and every event features a drawing for prizes donated by local businesses. 8/5-8/7 – Kansas City families getting ready for the school year can save some money during the Missouri Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday the weekend of Aug. 5-7. Shop at retail stores in Kansas City for eligible items such as personal computers and select computer equipment; any item normally used by students in a standard classroom; and clothing items. 8/6 – Bounce Back to School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Samuel U. Rodgers, 825 Euclid Ave. Admission is free! Find school supplies; books; COVID-19 and school immunizations; apply to all KCMO charter and district schools; housing, food, utility and employment assistance/info; insurance counselors to help with ACA registration; mental health services and more! 8/8 – Join Independence Boulevard Christian Church for Fruition KC Community Gatherings (54:30 – 5:30 p.m.), Fruition KC Worship (6:45 – 7:30 p.m.), and Micah Ministry (5:30 – 7 p.m.) on Monday nights at 606 Gladstone Blvd. Second Mondays are live music, free food and worship.

8/19 – Northeast High School invites students and families to attend its annual Families on the Football Field from 3-6 p.m. at Chelsea and Thompson Avenues. Meet with staff, engage with the community, sign up for clubs/organizations/sports, register for parent portal, meet with college & career reps. 8/20 – Global FC’s annual Back to School Bash is from 1-5 p.m. at PH Coffee, 2200 Lexington Avenue. RSVP at patricia@branch-global.com for a day of multicultural community engagement for the whole family. More info at globalfutbol.org.
