Community Calendar

Thursday, April 7 –  Kansas City, Missouri residents will have a chance to share their vision for the city’s next police chief in a series of listening sessions across the KCMO community hosted by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, which intends to present the findings of these listening sessions to the Board of Police Commissioners at upcoming meetings. This week, the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is hosting one from 6 to 8 p.m. at its office, 2657 Independence Ave.


Friday, April 8 – 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Paseo Gateway Groundbreaking Ceremony, sponsored by Kansas City Parks and Recreation, at Independence Avenue and The Paseo. This event will kick off construction of long-awaited improvements for this congested intersection.

Saturday, April 9 – Northeast Neighborhood Cleanup Event, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Collection of trash, bulky trash, yard waste at The Concourse, Budd Park, Lykins Square Park, Harmony Park, and Sheffield Park. Tires also collected at The Concourse and electronic (with fee) at the 9th and Van Brunt Athletic Fields. Sponsored by NEAT and the Mattie Rhodes Center. Volunteers are welcome at each location.


Tuesday, April 12 – Hy-Vee Hams for the Holidays Food Giveaway Event, 4 p.m. until supplies run out at KCPD East Patrol Division, 2640 Prospect Ave. Enter the west entrance at 26th and Brooklyn to be directed to the pick up area. Harvester’s will also have dry good food boxes available.

Thursday, April 14 – Historic Northeast Job Fair at Mattie Rhodes Center from 12-4pm.
