KANSAS CITY- In a Sept. 5 press release from Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, Wesley McGlothen has been charged with Attempted Child Kidnaping, Sexual Misconduct Involving a Child Under 15 and Assault in the 4th Degree.
McGlothlen is reported to have lured two children, in separate incidents, into his residence by offering them candy and to see a dog. The first reported incident, according to court records, involved a male child, age 5, on August 9, 2024. The second incident involved a female child, age unknown, reported to the Kansas City Police Department on Sept. 3.
The defendant, a 75 year old white male, has resided in Columbus Park for some time and acknowledged these are not his first attempts. The Juvenile Section of KCPD is seeking assistance in identifying any additional victims of the defendant. If you have such information, please contact the Juvenile Section at (816) 234-5150.
The defendant is in custody and is being held on no bond.
