KANSAS CITY, Missouri — With the three-day weekend for Labor Day comes closures of area businesses and city offices.

Jackson County offices, including the courthouses in Kansas City and Independence, will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of the holiday. The Historic Truman Courthouse in Independence will also be closed to the public Friday, Sept. 4, due to Santa-Cali-Gon Days. Kansas City, Mo., offices will also be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of the holiday. Due to the closure of city offices, trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day; the 3-1-1 Action Center, a division of the city manager’s office, also will be closed for the holiday.

Residents who usually have Monday trash collection will receive this service Tuesday, Sept. 8. Residents who usually have Friday trash collection will receive this service Saturday, Sept. 12. The Household Hazardous Waste drop-off facility at 4707 Deramus Ave. will be closed Sunday, Sept. 6 through Tuesday, Sept. 8. Also closed on Monday, area banks, all branches of the Kansas City Library, area offices of the U.S. Postal Service, and area schools.
