Fifty-four candidates vied for the position of Kansas City Chief of Police and now that number has been narrowed down to five.
Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners narrowed down the pool of candidates during their Aug. 8 meeting. Until background checks are completed, the names of the five finalists will not be revealed.
To learn more about the top five candidates, Kansas City residents are invited to attend the Aug. 22 public forum from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The forum will be held at the Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts, 4747 Flora, with a reception to follow for community groups, the City of Kansas City Council and other constituents.
Commissioners will interview the top candidates Aug. 23 and announce their selection the same evening.
