A 34 year old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting Sunday evening of his wife, Anna Velazquez inside their home in the 3700 block of East 7th Street.
Officers responded to the home Sunday evening just after 10 p.m. and discovered the victim in an upstairs bedroom. A number of shell casings were in the room with the victim’s body.
The defendant’s father lives next door and told officers that the defendant admitted that he had shot the victim. The defendant however told police he didn’t remember shooting the victim but then told officers who responded to the call, “my wife is dying,  it was an accident.”

Two other juveniles were located in the home, safe in their beds.

Velazquez has been charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder and one count of Armed Criminal Action. Prosecutors have requested a cash-only bond of $300,000.
