Caring Communities Resource Centers and the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation will offer a free Glaucoma detection screening from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Northeast Senior Center, 5106 St. John Ave., Kansas City, Mo.

Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness in the United States. However, only half of the people affected by this disease are aware that they have it.

During the screening a trained foundation technician will use a tonometer to test the eye pressure using a puff of air on the eye. The eyes will not be dilated. If you wear contacts, bring your contact case or wear your glasses.

If you show a higher than normal eye pressure you will be encouraged to schedule an eye exam with your eye care professional. For more information, call Northeast Senior Center, (816) 231-8864.
