Brenda K. Smith, 65, passed away March 11, 2011, at North Kansas City Hospital. Arrangements are by ScienceCare Anatomical Inc. Cremation.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Evelyn (Reed) and Dean Steele, and a daughter, Bonnie Solomon.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Wiley D. Smith; a daughter, Cheryle Peterson (Joseph), of Historic Northeast Kansas City, two sons, Bradley Smith of Elma, Wash., and Blaine Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; and three grandchildren, Julian and Aleena Peterson, Jeremy Solomon and a great-grandchild, London Jean Solomon.
Brenda was born on April 1,1945, in Greasy Ridge, Ohio. The family migrated to Arizona and she attended South Mountain High School in Phoenix, Ariz., graduating in 1963. After raising her children, Brenda worked for many years as a sales representative for Bristol Myers. For the last 10 years, she joined her husband in his insurance business. Wiley and Brenda made the move to Historic Northeast in 2006 to be closer to family.
Brenda took pleasure in spending time outside in the vegetable garden. She was also an expert seamstress, creating a variety of garments for friends and family members alike.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Northcare Hospice for their expert care during Brenda’s final days.
