Book Of The Week: “Almost American Girl” by Robin Ha

This week’s book recommendation comes from Shirl Maldonado, Senior Library Assistant at the North-East Branch of the Kansas City Public Library.

Shirl chose “Almost American Girl” by Robin Ha.

“‘Almost American Girl’’ is an autobiographical story told from a teen immigrants’ perspective,” Shirl said. “Moving to the United States at the age of 14, Chuna thought she was just going on vacation. Soon she needed to learn a new way of life and a new language as well as dealing with racism and being bullied. This is a fast paced, moving story about change and belonging.”

The recommendation is available through the Kansas City Public Library for placing a hold as a physical or digital item.
