KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Central Bank of Kansas City recently announced the formation of an ongoing community service project that will honor two, long time bank employees who recently succumbed to cancer.

The Harmon-Huwaldt Project is an initiative that hopes to inspire bank employees and clients to give back to their community through a variety of projects undertaken throughout the year. According to Michelle Visos, who chairs the initiative, it is an opportunity not only to share during the Christmas season, but continue giving throughout the year.

“We launched the Harmon-Huwaldt Project about six months ago and have done projects with Newhouse, Hospice House and St. James Catholic Church,” Visos said.

This year during the Christmas season, the bank adopted two families through Operation Breakthrough and The Children’s Place. Employees, armed with a gift list from the family, took to the stores to make sure both adopted families were provided for at Christmas. The gifts will be wrapped and delivered to each agency in time for delivery by Christmas to the families.

“This may be the only gift these kids get this Christmas,” Visos noted. “We really want to insure there’s something under the tree for them at Christmas.”
