Kansas City actors will get the opportunity to audition for a movie set in Historic Northeast.

Associates Production is hosting auditions on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. They will be held at the EGG, 2659 Independence Ave.

Writer and Director James Humphrey Jr. would describe the film as an action-packed drama.

“It kind of comes at you out of nowhere,” Humphrey said. “I wanted to really focus this movie more on the drama than the action.”

He got started in the film industry in 2017 as a hobby. His first project was a TV show, The Associate, which inspired the name for his production company.

“I joined in knowing absolutely nothing about it and I guess, in my experience, I pretty much learned on the go,” Humphrey said.

Humphrey is a former Avenue Angel who worked for Titan Security on Independence Avenue. After learning about the EGG (Economic Growth Gallery), he figured it would be the perfect spot to host auditions. The film will be filmed almost completely inside a house in the Kansas City metro area.

Humphrey is looking for actors to play a “very complex” married couple trying to live the best days of their lives. When they decide to rent out their spare room, their new roommate isn’t quite what they expected.

For Brooke, the wife, Humphrey is looking for a female who appears to be between the ages of 25 and 29, with a skinny to average build. He pictures her between 5’5” and 5’8” with long blonde or brunette hair. The character will wear very revealing and extravagant clothing and jewelry. The call notes that this role does contain nudity and sexual scenes.

“Brooke is a very happy and cheerful wife trying to hide how broken and unloved she is inside,” Humphrey said. “She reaches out to her husband for love and comfort only to feel ignored and shattered. She loves her life and how it turned out, but parts of her wishes different. Different is what she gets when she rents out her guest room to a visitor.”

Supporting Cast Member Jessica, Brooke’s best friend since college, cares and loves Brooke like a sister and knows she is going through a serious rough patch with her husband. She tries to support her decisions about her life but knows she needs something to change. Jessica will be played by a female appearing between the ages of 25 and 30.

For actors who do their own stunts, the role of Victoria requires an athletic body type, as this will be a physically demanding role with fight scenes.
Victoria, who will appear between the ages of 21 and 30, will have either long or short hair, be 5’5” to 5’9” and wear very revealing, tactical clothing.
“Victoria is a very flirty and promiscuous person,” Humphrey said. “She walks into a room and instantly everyone falls in love with her. Deep down she has the heart of a killer and killing is what she’s good at.”

Humphrey will be casting for the supporting role of Silvia, Victoria’s sister, who will have a similar look, but will appear between the ages of 20 and 25. It is also a physically demanding role, including fight scenes, but she has a temper and is a “polar opposite” from her sister’s flirty nature.

Male actors will have the opportunity to audition for the role of D.W., a very menacing but easy to work with guy who is all about business – and if that business is killing you, he’ll get the job done.

Actors auditioning for this role should appear in their 40s and be between 5’7” and 6’2” with a heavyset, muscular build. D.W. wears high-end, expensive suits.

Other small roles are being cast for a female TV reporter, and three “hired guns” in their mid 20’s with athletic builds, which is a physically demanding role.

Script material will be available upon arrival, with substantial time provided to prepare. Those hoping to get the script ahead of time should sign up on Associates Productions’ website.
