This morning just after 3AM KCPD  officers were dispatched to the area of 12th street and Benton Blvd. on reports of a disturbance involving a person with a weapon. While the officers were en route to the call, it was updated to a shooting.

The victim in this case has been identified as 27-year old Zachary Trivitt of Kansas City.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a person at a nearby business who stated their friend had been shot. Officers located an unreaponsive adult male inside of a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. EMS personnel responded to the scene and declared the victim deceased.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently unknown.
Homicide detectives and crime scene officers have responded
and are actively working on identifying a person of interest and police do not currently have anyone in custody.
