KANSAS CITY – Animal Control and Illegal Dumping Investigators were dispatched to Kessler Park on the call of a dead horse Tuesday morning, April 2.
The horse, dismembered, with the head severed, was along a pathway near Lexington and Prospect about 10 feet in to the woods.
The horse appeared to have been field dressed for consumption. After the meat was removed, the carcass was placed in a barrel and dumped in the park.
Animal Control is conducting the investigation. The remains will be sent to a veterinarian for a necropsy to determine the cause and time of death.
At this time it is an Animal Control investigation unless it is determined the horse was stolen.
Anyone that may have information is urged to call 816-474-TIPS.
