Hard Hat Tour
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will examine 100-year-old craftsmanship, see the ornate salon and library and view the exquisite stained glass windows. Tours are free and will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo.

Founders Day
Join the Kansas City Museum from noon to 4 p.m. to celebrate Founders Day. The Kansas City Museum opened its doors to the public on May 5, 1940, and to celebrate the day it officially opened, the museum will host a number of activities, including Long family themed games, a variety of arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, among other activities. Cost is free.

Scarrit Renaissance Monthly Meeting
Scarrit Renaissance Neighborhood Association will host its next monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Special speakers will include Alissia Canady of the Jackson County Neighborhood Prosecutor Program and Allen Bogart, who will speak about Kansas City’s tire removal program.

Literacy Kansas City Volunteer Orientation
Learn how you can be a volunteer literacy tutor for adults and older teens during the Literacy Kansas City Volunteer Orientation at 6:30 p.m. at the American Red Cross building, 211 Armour Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. This orientation is required for an 18–hour tutor training series offered monthly, but will also give information about other volunteer opportunities. VFW Hero Fest 2012
Join VFW Post 9997 for a three-day concert weekend May 11-13. Twenty local bands from all genres will be playing over the course of the three-day event. T-bones Baseball with Northeast Chamber
