Hard Hat Tour
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will examine 100-year-old craftsmanship, see the ornate salon and library and view the exquisite stained glass windows. Tours are free and will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo.

Color the World
Della Lamb Community Services will host its 18th annual fundraiser dinner and auction, “Color the World” on Saturday, April 28, at the Kansas City Downtown Marriott – Muehlebach Tower Imperial Ballroom at 12th and Wyandotte. Cocktails and silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. A program and live auction will be held at 8:15 p.m. Special appearances will include the Della Lamb Children’s Choir and Quixotic Fusion. Microsoft Basics
Learn the fundamentals of Microsoft Word, including templates and the array of menu options. The free workshop will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., Kansas City, Mo.

Knights of Columbus Bingo
Knights of Columbus Council 4613 will host a night of bingo from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  on May 4 at St. Anthony’s Parish – St. Joseph Hall, 3028 Lexington, Kansas City, Mo. Food will also be available for purchase.

Founders Day
Join the Kansas City Museum from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 6, to celebrate Founders Day. The Kansas City Museum opened its doors to the public on May 5, 1940, and to celebrate the day it officially opened, the museum will host a number of activities, including Long family themed games, a variety of arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, among other activities. Cost is free.

Scarritt Renaissance Monthly Meeting
Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association will host its next monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Special speakers will include Alissia Canady of the Jackson County Neighborhood Prosecutor Program and Allen Bogart, who will speak about Kansas City’s tire removal program.

Literacy Kansas City Volunteer Orientation
Learn how you can be a volunteer literacy tutor for adults and older teens during the Literacy Kansas City Volunteer Orientation at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the American Red Cross building, 211 Armour Blvd., Kansas City, Mo.  This orientation is required for an 18–hour tutor training series offered monthly, but will also give information about other volunteer opportunities. Walk and Talk Tour of Columbus Park
Listen to historic insights about Kansas City and enjoy a stroll through historic Columbus Park on Sunday, May 20.  The Walk and Talk is sponsored by the Kansas City Museum and will be hosted by Michael Bushnell.  Meet at Columbus Park, Independence Avenue and Charlotte Street, at 2 p.m. Cost is $5 per person or $15 for groups of four.  Ages 5 and up are welcome.

Un-Chef Cook-Off
Local media personalities Curtis Jay and Keith King of 41 Action News and Zeke Montana of Q-104 will bring their culinary skills (or lack thereof) to a cooking challenge in the style of “Top Chef” and “Chopped”! One lucky audience member will join the panel of judges in tasting and critiquing the chefs’ creations.  The fundraising event for Kansas City’s Newhouse, a women’s shelter, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Studio 2131, 2131 Washington St., Kansas City, Mo.  Cost is $40 per person.
