Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will host the free tours on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Whoville Holidays
Who’s of all ages are encouraged to bring their camera to get a picture with the Grinch in the warmth of Cindy Lou Who’s home at City Market’s Whoville Holidays at the City Market main entrance, 429 Walnut. Little Who’s will enjoy the Whoville Holiday children’s activity area where they can make Whoville themed tree ornaments, a Grinch mask and more! Whoville Holidays is a free event, but donations (canned goods for Harvesters or a a new, unwrapped toy for the Salvation Army) are encouraged for the “Help A Who” campaign.
Home by Christmas
Check out Home by Christmas from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial, 100 W. 26th Street, Kansas City, Mo. For the event, World War I re-enactors will be at the museum to interact with visitors. Beginning at 2 p.m., the museum will show the movie, Joyeux Noël, which depicts the dramatic true story of the spontaneous 1914 Christmas Truce along the Western Front. This free event will take place at the museum’s J.C. Nichols Auditorium.
Kansas City Museum’s Fairy Princess
The Fairy Princess will officially assume her throne and greet children at the Kansas City Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Carriage House. For $5 per child, boys and girls can share their holiday wishes with the Fairy Princess and receive a complimentary photo. Children can also enjoy the holiday arts and crafts activities and a treat. Families can also purchase Princess essentials in the Fairy Princess Boutique. Fairy Princess visitors are welcomed in the Museum’s Visitor Center to learn more about the Kansas City Museum and Kansas City history and watch a holiday film. The Kansas City Museum is located at 3218 Gladstone Boulevard.

Culture, Family and Friends Celebration
Christ Presbyterian Church and First Haitian Christian Fellowship will host a Culture, Family and Friends Celebration from 10:30 a.m. to noon at 544 Wabash Ave., Kansas City, Mo. The event will feature jazz legend Bobby Watson, Jefferson Laurent and Trio, a piano selection by Rose-Bertine and Murielle Mercier, a vocal performance by Kirk Patton and much more. Safe Schools Program Community Forum
The community is invited to attend the Safe Schools Program Community Forum at 6 p.m. at James Elementary School, 5810 Scarritt, Kansas City, Mo. Refreshments will be provided. Share concerns and ideas about how to make your neighborhood safer, meet neighbors and Kansas City Police Department officers and hear reports on efforts to improve the Northeast area near James Elementary.
EMPOWER Kidney Disease Classes
Learn how to take control of kidney disease and make healthy choices by attending the free EMPOWER Kidney Disease classes, which are held on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The next class will be held at Truman Medical Center Lakewood in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Independence Plaza Council, Inc. meeting
The next monthly meeting for the Independence Neighborhood Council, Inc. will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the basement of the City Union Mission’s New Life Center Building, 1301 Olive. During the meeting, the council will elect officers for next year and discuss what the neighborhood would like to accomplish for next year. Snacks will be provided.
