Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family.  Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will host the free tours on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Urban Neighborhood Initiative
Come share your views on the Urban Neighborhood Initiative, one of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Big 5 Ideas, during the public meeting. Interested east side residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend to identify opportunities to strengthen the community. Neighborhood Holiday Open House
Join the Kansas City Museum in their Carriage  House Throne Room from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a Neighborhood Holiday Open House. At 6 p.m., the Fairy Princess Class of 2011 will make its debut and at 6:05 p.m., the winners of the 2011 Halloween Fairy Princess Costume Contest will be announced. Literacy Kansas City Volunteer Orientation
Learn how to become a literacy tutor and serve Historic Northeast by attending a presentation addressing adult literacy causes and effects at 9:30 a.m. Also, learn more about the program that trains and provides volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with adult literacy students throughout the greater metro area. The class will be held at the American Red Cross building, 211 W. Armour Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Kansas City Museum’s Fairy Princess
The Fairy Princess will officially assume her throne and greet children at the Kansas City Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  in the Carriage House. For $5 per child, boys and girls can share their holiday wishes with the Fairy Princess and receive a complimentary photo. The children will also enjoy holiday arts and crafts activities and a treat. Families can also purchase Princess essentials in the Fairy Princess Boutique. Fairy Princess visitors are welcomed in the Museum’s Visitor Center to learn more about the Kansas City Museum and Kansas City history and watch a holiday film. The Kansas City Museum is located at 3218 Gladstone Boulevard.

Learn the fundamentals of Microsoft Word as well as various templates and menu options at North-East Public Library’s Microsoft basics class at 10:30 p.m. North-East library is located at 6000 Wilson Rd., Kansas City, Mo.
