Hard hat tours
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will host the free tours on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Northeast Chamber After Hours
Central Bank of Kansas City will host the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce After Hours event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature a ‘50s theme with appetizers and prizes. All are welcome to attend this free event. Central Bank is located at 2301 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, Mo.
Block Watch Training
A block watch training session will be held at 6 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Church in the Parrino Room, 318 Benton Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Learn how to start a block watch group on your street. Gather your neighbors and learn how to properly report problems on your street. Bring a dish if you’d like to participate in the potluck dinner. Illegal Sign Sweep
Join the city’s Public Works and Neighborhood and Community Services departments in removing illegal signs in public right-of-ways or from utility poles. Residents unaware of the location of right-of-way boundaries are advised to not remove signs. The city will provide up to five blue trash bags per requestor at three locations, available Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Locations are: Northland Neighborhoods Inc., 3015 Vivion Road; the City’s Neighborhood Preservation Division, 4900 Swope Parkway, First Floor; and Trailside Center, 9901 Holmes Road. Residents can dispose of illegal signs in the blue bags and set them out on their regular trash day. Solid waste will pick up the blue bags at no additional charge. Northeast Senior Center Bingo
Join the seniors at Northeast Senior Center, 5106 St. John Ave., Kansas City, Mo., for a lively session of bingo as called by a volunteer, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18. Prizes will be available.
Kiwanis Chili Day
Check out the Kiwanis Chili Day at the Salvation Army building, 6618 E. Truman Rd., Kansas City, Mo. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, and cost includes all you can eat chili, along with a drink and dessert. Take-out is available, but does not include drinks.
