Hard hat tours
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family.  Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will host the free tours on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Northeast Community-wide Clean-up
Help make Northeast clean by participating in the Northeast Community-wide Clean-up from 8 a.m. to noon. For yard and waste drop-off, visit Budd Park, St. John and Hardesty, or Concourse Park, St. John and Benton. A trailer for used tires will be available at Budd Park. Volunteers can also pick up city issued trash bags and latex gloves at either park to assist with picking up trash in Northeast that day. Residents are also encouraged to pick up trash along their neighborhoods’ streets and alleyways.

Salvation Army Celebrates 30th Anniversary
Come celebrate with the Salvation Army Children’s Shelter, which has been serving Kansas City youngsters for 30 years. The free event will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Shelter located at 101 W. Linwood, Kansas City, Mo. Activities will include a tour, birthday cake, face painting, a bounce house, balloon artist and more.

Scare-It Halloween
Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood is hosting Scare-It Halloween, a free, family-friendly event that will include safe trick-or-treating and a slew of activities. The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Streets will be blocked off from Gladstone and St. John Ave. to Gladstone and Mersington. Approximately 20 houses are expected to participate. Other activities will include the Kansas City Museum’s Fairy Princess Costume Contest, Kansas City Chalk and Walk artists creating Halloween-themed art, Parisole Arts’ fire spinning and face painting, inflatables, a “haunted train” and more.

EMPOWER Kidney Disease Classes
Learn how to take control of kidney disease and make healthy choices by attending the free EMPOWER Kidney Disease classes, which are held on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Upcoming class locations include: Truman Medical Center Lakewood in Lee’s Summit, Mo., on Nov. 8; North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo., on Nov. 15; and Johnson County Central Library in Overland Park, Kan., on Nov. 22. Divas Dancing for Divas
Strut your stuff like the diva you are at Divas Dancing for Divas, which will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Argosy Casino. FIMB (Fabulous in Mind and Body Yoga and Wellness Center), also known as “The Stiletto Gym,” will present its third annual Dancing for Divas, a fundraiser for Kansas City’s Newhouse domestic violence shelter. The event will include group chair dance instruction, shopping, prizes and other entertainment. Both men and women ages 17 and older are welcome to attend. Entry fee is $20 per person. Explore Kansas City Museum’s more than 100-year-old mansion home, Corinthian Hall, with a glass of wine during Kansas City Museum’s Hard Hat Happy Hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. November 3. You’ll see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Hear first-hand about plans for the grand mansion’s future with Museum Director Christopher Leitch and Museum staff, for only $5. You must be 21 years old to attend.
