Hard hat tours
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will host the free tours on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Knights of Columbus Monthly Breakfast
Chow down on a scrumptious breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon during the Knights of Columbus Monthly Breakfast at St. Anthony Church’s St. Joseph Hall, 3208 Lexington Ave. Menu includes biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, potato casserole, pancakes, sausage patties, chorizo con huevos, tortillas, coffee and juice. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 8 to 12.

Scarritt changed this month’s meeting date due to Labor Day weekend. Shelter Showdown Bowling Night
Bowl for a cause from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Ward Parkway Lanes, 89th and Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Mo. This is the third and final event in the 2011 Shelter Showdown series for Newhouse women’s shelter. Can KU or K-State overtake MU in this fundraising competition? Cost is $30 for adults, $20 for kids and includes two hours of bowling, shoe rental, snacks, a beer or soft drink and a raffle ticket.
