Walk with ease club

At 9:30 a.m. at the North-East Library, this six-week course will teach participants how to walk and stretch safely, increase flexibility, and improve balance. Weekly incentives will be given to participants. Learn how walking can improve your fitness and help manage your arthritis pain.

My Kansas City: the Heritage & Legacy of the HistoricNortheast

This exhibition explores the important history of Kansas City’s Historic Northeast neighborhoods and its long-awaited renaissance. As one of Kansas City’s oldest areas, the Historic Northeast’s past includes legendary, lively stories and shared memories of magnates, immigrants, mansions, ethnic businesses, and more. From culturally diverse neighborhoods, active residents, and visionary leaders to iconic monuments and beautiful natural resources, the Historic Northeast has deep historical significance for Kansas City—and the resilience and creativity of its neighborhoods is a beacon for the future. The exhibition is located in the Museum’s Carriage House and is on display through Jan. 16, 2016. Exhibition Tours are free and self-guided from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

The Blue Valley Neighborhood Association invites you to its monthly neighborhood meeting at 6 p.m. at the Guadalupe Centers, located at Truman and Hardesty. Join North-East Public Library at 10:45 a.m. for physical fitness. No matter what your limitations, maybe you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to give you a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.

Sign up for a free e-mail account and follow along with this tutorial that teaches the ins and outs of sending and receiving email, as well as how to organize your messages. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

Join the North-East Public Library at 10 a.m. to learn how to speak conversational Spanish.

Kansas City Museum Fairy Princess

Join the Kansas City Museum to celebrate Kansas City’s beloved tradition of The Fairy Princess. Share holiday wishes with the Fairy Princess, enjoy storytelling, performances, and hands-on activities, and take home your sweet treat. The Fairy Princess is available from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20. Admission is $10 per child and RSVP is not necessary.

Breakfast with Santa

Join the North-East Library, 6000 Wilson Road, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, for breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will be crafts, and goody bags and you can have your photo taken with Santa. This free event is sponsored by the Optimist Club of Kansas City and the Northeast Public Library.

The meeting will also serve as a potluck, so bring your favorite holiday dish, and invite your friends, neighbors, and family. The neighborhood association will announce the winner of its holiday light display contest that evening.
