KC Museum Hard Hat Tour

Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the 100+ year old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will also tour the exhibit inside Corinthian Hall: Planning for the Future: Find History at Kansas City Museum. Admission is free and this week’s tours will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 10 a.m. and at noon on Sunday at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd.

Dressing Up in Kansas City: Rites of Passage exhibition

Join the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., for Dressing Up Kansas City: Rites of Passage. The exhibit is available by tours only Wednesday – Sunday, on the hour beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday – Saturday and at noon on Sundays. Admission is free. Through the Museum’s historic clothing and textile collection, it’ll feature artifacts illustrating the various customs of Kansas City’s shared heritage. Birth rituals, wedding traditions and mourning customs will all be highlighted with clothing that helped define each in their own time period. In addition, the exhibition will feature photographs of Kansas City residents all dressed up and documenting each rite of passage that came their way.

ESL Classes

Story Time

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

 

Saturday, October 25

Computer Class – Microsoft

Join North-East Public Library for class on the fundamentals of Microsoft Word which will focus on templates as well as the various menu options. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

Eleos Coffee House Fall Festival

Join Eleos Coffee House, 3401 Independence Ave., from 2 – 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, for a fall festival. Admission is free. There will games for the whole family, as well as apple cider and barbecue pulled pork for $1.

 

Sunday, October 26

Family Fun Day: Day of the Dead

Join the Kansas City Museum from 1 – 3 p.m. for a free event highlighting the history behind Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, through arts and crafts, storytellers and more. Admission is Free.

 

Monday, October 27 

Sheffield Neighborhood Association

The Sheffield Neighborhood Association will meet at 7 p.m. at Hope Academy, 1001 Bennington Ave., Monday, Oct. 27.

 

Tuesday, October 28

Kansas City Digital Media Lab

The KCDML is open to youth ages 13-18 every Tuesday from 3:30 – 7 p.m. at the Kansas City Library. It’s a safe space for youth who are interested in, or want to learn more about storytelling and/or coding. You’ll have access to equipment and adult collaborators to learn, create, and grow. All of the adult collaborators have had background checks and are simply available to help youth take their expertise and interest to the next level.

Join the North East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Road, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, for free classes presented in Spanish. There will be raffles, snacks and surprises. Childcare will be provided.
