KC Museum Hard Hat Tour

Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the 100 + year old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will also tour the exhibit inside Corinthian Hall: Planning for the Future: Find History at Kansas City Museum. Admission is free and this week’s tours will be held Wednesday through Friday at 2 p.m. at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd.

Nelson Art Gallery at North-East Library

Join the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., Kansas City, Mo., at 4:30 p.m. as the Nelson Art Gallery offers a variety of special projects. Space is limited to participate and is geared toward ages 8 to 15. Call 816-701-3485 to reserve your spot.

Canvas Art Exhibit

Join the Kansas City Museum for “Kansas City Canvas: Thomas Hart Benton and Beyond.” Explore the artisan world of Thomas Hart Benton and Kansas City artists through the collection of the Kansas City Museum. As part of the 125th anniversary of Thomas Hart Benton’s birth, the Museum will be showcasing the historical life and work of this amazing artist. The Museum will be displaying such lithograph prints as Forward Pass, Benton Home and more from our collection. The Museum, through the lens of history, will also be exploring works of art from several other KC artists including works from George Caleb Bingham, James Fitzgibbon, Daniel MacMorris and the WPA art of H.L. Pierre. Each piece will be accompanied by an essay from museum staff, area historians and artists offering insights about the history, culture and art of their chosen piece. Tours begin every hour, on the hour at 10 a.m. with the last tour at 3 p.m.

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play. This week’s theme is penguins.

Computer Class

Sign up for a free e-mail account and follow along with this tutorial that teaches the ins and outs of sending and receiving email, as well as how to organize your messages. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

Bake Sale

The V.F.W. Auxiliary 9997 is hosting a bake sale from noon until food is sold out at 6801 Wilson Road. Funds raised from the sale are used to help the auxiliary with its programs. The public is encouraged to stop by.

Beads, Beans and Beer Fundraiser for NE Chamber

The Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Beads, Beans and Beer fundraiser on March 4 from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Don Bosco Senior Center, 580 Campbell, Kansas City, Mo. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. In addition to food and drinks, there will be a live auction, Mardi Gras costume contest, live jazz music, a raffle, door prizes and more. Wimpy Kid Club

Come and celebrate the series “Diary of a Wimp Kid” at the North-East Library, 6000 Wilson Road. Beginning at 5 p.m., children will read from the book, act out scenes, craft and play games. This event is for ages 8-11.

Newhouse Shelter Showdown

Newhouse, a domestic violence shelter for women and their children, will host the Shelter Showdown Tip-Off at Boulevard Brewery, 2501 SW Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 5. Support your collegiate allegiance and a good cause over all-you-can-eat Minsky’s Pizza and Boulevard beer. Which school’s fans will raise the most money and be the 2014 Shelter Showdown Champions? Cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the door; proceeds will benefit Newhouse. The event will also include a silent auction, college apparel for sale, basketball games on big screens and more. St. Joseph’s Tables
